The EMC Capital Group has recorded a substantial improvement in 2012 financial results year-on-year and is still on the lookout for an investor

Consolidated revenue of the Capital Group EMC Instytut Medyczny was PLN 157.5 million in 2012, up 8.7 percent compared with a year ago. The net profit grew by nearly half, last year, and totalled PLN 515 thousand versus PLN 345 thousand a year earlier.

"I am pleased with the Group’s results considering what a tough year 2012 has been for the medical service sector. The difficult times we are facing bring on dynamic changes in the hospital market in Poland. We would like make the most of this period so as to allow the Group to expand through further acquisitions"- said Piotr Gerber, the President of EMC Instytut Medyczny.

“Since development requires considerable resources, we have taken steps in order to pick a financial investor interested in building the future value of the EMC Capital Group. The process for seeking a strategic partner wasn’t completed in 2012. It is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2013"- he added.

The Management Board of the company believes that there are several dozen local governments that have already started the process of acquiring an investor for their hospitals. Given the scale of of its business activity, the unique experience in transforming public hospitals and the effective management of a network of both hospitals and outpatient clinics, EMC Instytut Medyczny have reached a leading position in this market, which is widely appreciated by the local government officials.

In 2012, EMC Instytut Medyczny organized a team dedicated to the acquisition of new medical entities for the Group and made efforts to identify the hospitals suitable for being acquired.

Last year, EMC Instytut Medyczny continued to broaden the scope of medical services offered by the Group's hospitals and outpatient clinics.

In the first half-year of 2012 three departments such as: Gynaecologic Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Ophthalmology were launched at EuroMediCare Hospital in Wroclaw. While a Geriatrics Department and a Department of Neurotic Disorders were opened in Mikulicz Hospital in Świebodzice, and Bukowiec Hospital in Kowary respectively.

A CT Scanner Laboratory and an Endoscopic Diagnostics Laboratory, where gastroscopy examinations are performed under contract with the National Health Fund have been established at St. Anne's Hospital in Piaseczno. New outpatient clinics such as cardiological, diabetological, gastroenterological, pulmonological (children) and neonatal have been launched at the hospital. In addition, the hospital in Piaseczno has developed its flagship Obstetrics Department. With as many as 1,500 children born in the hospital, the facility was ranked first among the community hospital in Mazovia.

A Research and Development Centre (RDC) referred to as an Aging Prevention Center, which is supposed ensure innovative care for the elderly, is going to be created at the Geriatric Hospital in Katowice.The project will be financed with European Union funding, for which the Company shall receive PLN 3.4 million under the Operational Programme 'Innovative economy'. A research will be carried out, as a part of the project, on how to improve the quality of life in the elderly, thus increasing their physical fitness and independence. The RDC will be brought into being in cooperation with scientists from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Silesian University of Technology.

At the moment there are 8 hospitals and 16 outpatient clinics that operate within the EMC Group in Poland’s five voivodeships.

The facilities include: EuroMediCare Specialist Hospital with Outpatient Clinic in Wrocław, St. Roch’s Hospital in Ozimek near Opole, St. Anthony’s Hospital in Ząbkowice Śląskie, Mikulicz Hospital in Świebodzice, St. George’s Hospital in Kamień Pomorski, John Paul II Geriatric Hospital in Katowice, Bukowiec Hospital in Kowary, and St. Anne’s Hospital in Piaseczno.

The Group also comprises the following Outpatient Clinics: the Łowiecka Outpatient Clinic in Wrocław, Lubmed Outpatient Clinics in Lubin, Formica Outpatient Clinics in Wrocław and EMC Health Care Ltd. in Dublin.
The hospitals that constitute the EMC Group provide healthcare services to over 850 thousand residents of Dolnośląskie, Opolskie, Zachodniopomorskie, Śląskie and Mazowieckie voivodeships. Over 70 thousand patients are treated in the outpatient clinics as part of primary health care system.
