EMC Instytut Medyczny Group revenue for the third quarter of 2013 increased 14.7 percent to PLN 44.5 million
The growth in revenue came as a result of increasing income from both services performed for the National Health Fund and commercial patients, and proceeds from services for insurance companies as well as buying out a new medical facility.
In the 2nd quarter of 2013 the EMC Group expanded by adding a new subsidiary "Zdrowie" that runs the District Hospital in Kwidzyń. The financial results of the medical institution have been consolidated since July 26, which resulted in an increase in revenue of PLN 4.8 million. The 3rd quarter net profit remained at PLN 0.43 million.
Cumulatively, after three quarters of 2013 sales rose 5.5 percent, up to PLN 125,74 million. The net profit was PLN 1.75 million.
"In the last quarter, the Group's development strategy that focuses on taking over new entities as well as expanding and modernizing the EMC owned facilities has been consistently implemented”- said Piotr Gerber, the President of EMC Instytut Medyczny. In the 3rd quartet modernization continued for the EMC-owned John Paul II Geriatric Hospital in Katowice. The redevelopment of the hospital involves the construction of a new hospital department, a Rehabilitation and Training Centre and a Research and Development Centre (RDC).
The hospital, which currently has a bed strength of 38, once expanded, will have further 26 geriatric and 24 rehabilitation beds. A research will be carried out, as a part of the project, on how to improve the quality of life in the elderly, thus increasing their physical fitness and independence.
In the 3rd quarter, a construction project continued to modernize Bukowiec Hospital, where a new operating theatre and a central sterile services department are being created. Meanwhile, the Outpatient Clinic at St. Anne’s Hospital in Piaseczno was also redeveloped. A second level, which will house 10 consulting rooms, is added to the one-story building.
