THE LARGEST NETWORK OF HOSPITALS IN POLAND EMC Instytut Medyczny S.A. is the largest owner of hospitals and outpatient clinics in the Polish private medical services market. Over the last 10 years, from a local company managing hospital in Wroclaw, the Company has developed a network of medical facilities, expanding consistently on Polish territory, as well as abroad. Since 2005, the company has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The capital group currently consists of 8 hospitals and 16 outpatient specialty and primary care clinics. TheEMC’s main medical activity is: specialist hospital medicine, hospitalizations in general hospitals and outpatient counseling in the outpatient specialty and primary healthcare clinics.
PRIVATE COMPANY IN THE PUBLIC SYSTEM
A unique feature of EMC Instytut Medyczny S.A. is the fact that as a private company it performs most of the free services under contracts with the National Health Fund, making it the major component of public health care system. Approximately 80% of company revenues are medical benefits financed by a system of universal health insurance.
MEDICAL CARE FOR EVERYONE
Acting in the public system, EMC is trying to create the most user-friendly model of treatment, tailored to the needs of each patient – ranging from the GP, through specialist advice, full diagnostics, hospital treatment, to care for the elderly in specialized centers or at home without marginalizing the difficult areas of medicine, such as long-term care for children.
Currently, the facilities constituting the EMC Instytut Medyczny S.A. network provide services to about 850 housand people residing in the provinces of Dolnośląskie, Opolskie, Zachodniopomorskie, Śląskie and Mazowieckie.The development of EMC's network of medical centers is generally characterized by high dynamics. By 2015, further units will have been launched providing medical care to 5% of the Poland’s population (about 2 million people).

The company's principal activity is the construction of new medical units in areas where it is necessary, and the conversion of old, inefficient and poorly managed public hospitals into the modern medical centers.
A difficult modernization process have successfully undergone the facilities including:

- St. George Hospital in Kamien Pomorski
- Mikulicz Hospital in Świebodzice
- St. Anna Hospital in Piaseczno
Once dilapidating hospitals, with deteriorating standards, compared those offered in modern medical facilities, have been transformed into high standard units with state-of the-art equipment and experienced medical staff. Currently, such EMC facilities as "Bukowiec" Hospital in Kowary, John Paul II Geriatric Hospital in Katowice and St. Anna Hospital in Piaseczno are being radically restructured in order to improve the quality of patient care.
